Jack
Kirby’s 96th Birthday Remembered
Hi Folks,
Time once
again for my annual request from me asking you all to raise a glass to the Heavens, to wish the King
of comic books, Jack “King” Kirby a Happy 96th Birthday.
And what better way to celebrate the man than to look at a piece of his magnificent artwork.
Jack - Conan - Elric - Three of my favourite heroes!!!
Also take a look at the official website: Jack Kirby Museum
Until next
time, have fun!

Who do you think Kirby's best inker was, Tim? (Wally Wood in my view.)
How you feeling these days? Getting back to normal?
Hi Gordon,
I think Wally gave Jack's pencils an added realism (read believability). I loved Vince Colletta's inking on Thor (although I realise most folks hated his inks). I loved Mike Royer's inks on Jack's Fourth World books. I loved Joe Sinnott's inks on Fantastic Four. I loved Bill Everett's inks on the latter issues of Thor and D. Bruce Berry's on OMAC and Sandman.
There are lots of other folks who worked on Jack's pages too, whom I think did a sterling job.
That said, I think it is testament to Jack's incredible pencilling that you would have to be a real "bad" professional not to come up with the goods.
Stuff I look at most is his Fourth World, Demon. Omac, Atlas stuff from DC and his Thors, inked by both the above and the more I think about it, everything before in between and afterwards. LOL.
Best inkers...? Wally, Mike, Bill and John Verpoorten on the later Marvel stuff when he returns to Marvel in the mid seventies.
Does that answer the question - LOL I am all confused now... LOL.
Morgan is in our thoughts and we still talk about her all the time.
Thanks for asking.
At the moment I am busy working on Worlds End - Volume 2 - A Hard Reign's Gonna Fall and a little something for publication later this year, in time for the winter convention season. How's that for a teaser? LOL.
Thanks for dropping by, mate.
Best,
Tim...

tim covered just about all the usual suspects. giacoia did a fine, if underappreciated job on jack on the Captain America Tales of Suspense issues that i now like. Still put in a good thought for syd shores as well.

Hi Charles,
Yeah I agree with you on both Frank and Syd's inks on Jack.
I loved Frank's inks over Barry Windsor Smith's pencils on the Zukala's Daughter Conan story in issue 5.
It's great to see so many people celebrating Jack's work today.
