Malta Comic Convention...

1st Annual Comic Event…

Hi Guys,

I have been invited down to the
Malta Comics Convention as a guest. This is the first in what will become an annual event.

The convention will be taking place in Malta on Saturday the 31st of October and Sunday the 1st of October. So if you are attending and want a Halloween sketch, now is the perfect time to ask for one.

I will be taking along the original pencil artwork for
Worlds End, so folks there can take a look at the artwork for the forthcoming graphic novel. I will also have some other things, which I will be taking along such as the Worlds End Ashcan, and a limited amount of the usual Wizards Keep merchandise, which you can find in the shop on the Wizards Keep Website, amongst some “freebie” stuff too.

Fellow guests include; David Lloyd, Mike Collins, Warren Pleece. Sean Azzopardi, amongst others.

The weekend looks set to be an amazing event set in the
St. James Cavalier, which is an historic building converted into an arts and creativity centre. The show will have talks, movies, and there will be some gaming as well, alongside of which will be some retailers and both local and foreign artists.

The event is being organised by Wicked Comics.

If you want to get in touch to arrange to go along or for further information please contact Chris Galea via email at:

chrislegalle@gmail.com

I feel very honoured to have been invited to this first event, as a guest and I am looking forward to it immensely.

If any of you guys are going along, please come over and say hi.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Until next time have fun!

Fantastic! It's been ten years since I was in Malta but I don't recall them having their own comics industry. (They imported British comics, and, presumably American ones.) Are they producing their own comics now? It's only a tiny island.

Hi Lew,

I have only been speaking to the guys for a few days, since they asked me to go along to the con, as a guest.

The guys want to make Malta a new annual comic convention venue, with maybe it becoming a springboard to launch new material too.

It is billed as having lots going on throughout the weekend.

I have never been to Malta, so it will see me taking photos at every opportunity.

There are only five of us going as guests from overseas, so I am really looking forward to it.

It sounds like it will be a really intimate affair and for me personally, a chance to show fellow Europeans Worlds End in pencil form, with perhaps a few colour pages too.

Of course I'll be taking some stuff along to sell as well.

As I was so disappointed to have had to miss BICS, this is a chance to get one more convention in this year.

I'll be posting at least one Blog of the event once I get back with hopefully lots of photos.

Thanks for dropping by and I loved your piece on Dave.

Checked out the interviews as well, earlier.

Thanks for sharing mate.

Best,
Tim...

Hi Tim,
I'm sure it'll be a great weekend. Valetta is a nice city to visit. If you have time to explore more of Malta the bus service is cheap and frequent (or it was 10 years ago). They use old British 1950s buses and recondition them, - although traveling can be an experience in hotter weather as the locals try to drive in the shade - in both directions!
